SUMMARY:CCHRA June Breakfast Meeting
DESCRIPTION:What the #%!*: Political Correctness in the Workplace \nPresented by: \n\n \n  \n  \n  \nSpeaker: Marc J. Scheiner\, Special Counsel\, Duane Morris LLP \nPolitical correctness (or the lack thereof) is a year-round and non-election-related concern\, often having little to do with politics. Heated discussions of social hot-button topics\, off-hand comments about the news\, different management and personality styles – all of these come together in our increasingly diverse workplaces to create potential problems. In this session\, we’ll explore the meaning of political correctness and to what extent (and how) we can deal with it in our organizations. What is the balance between creating an open\, more-inclusive working environment and potentially having our employees feel unable to express themselves? How can we set the proper tone for our employees? And does it even matter? \nMarc J. Scheiner practices in the area of employment law\, counseling clients on a variety of employment issues. He represents clients in employment litigation matters and trains human resources professionals\, in-house counsel and supervisors on a range of workplace topics. Mr. Scheiner works with clients to ensure compliance with Title VII\, the Americans with Disabilities Act and ADAAA\, Family and Medical Leave Act\, Age Discrimination in Employment Act\, Equal Pay Act\, Fair Credit Reporting Act and various state and local laws. He also assists clients in reviewing and drafting employment policies\, handbooks\, employment agreements\, non-compete agreements and severance agreements. \nThis program has been approved for 1.25 SHRM PDCs. HRCI Credits Pending \nClick here to register and more information. \n

SUMMARY:Chester County HR Association’s Breakfast Meeting
DESCRIPTION:HireOne is pleased to co-sponsor this event. \nTopic: Difficult Performance Management Conversations \nEvery HR professional or other executive has had to have\, at times\, a difficult conversation with an employee about his or her performance. Sometimes\, it is in the context of a performance appraisal.  Other times\, it may be a final warning. Regardless of the context\, careful planning is necessary.  Otherwise\, wrong things often are said or done that may result in a difficult lawsuit to defend. This program provides 12 guardrails to minimize the legal risk and maximize the business benefits of difficult but necessary conversations about performance. Common traps in the absence of bad intent are emphasized. \nAbout the speaker \nJonathan Segal is an employment attorney with Duane Morris’ Philadelphia office and managing principal of Duane Morris Institute. \nFor the past 6 years\, Jonathan has been listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business among the top-rated lawyers for labor and employment in Pennsylvania.  Chambers said of Jonathan\, “Jonathan Segal is particularly experienced in counseling and training employers on policy development matters.  He is described by a client as ‘the king of making legal answers work in a business context.’” \nJonathan is also frequently a featured speaker at national\, state and local human resource\, business and legal conferences\, including conferences sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management\, the Pennsylvania State Chamber of Business and Industry and the Association of Corporate Counsel-America (“ACCA”). He consistently has been one of the top-rated speakers at numerous SHRM National Conferences\, including SHRM’s Annual Conference\, Diversity Conference and Employment Law and Legislative Conference. \nJonathan has been cited as a national authority on employment issues in articles in The Wall Street Journal\, The New York Times\, USAToday\, Fortune\, The Philadelphia Inquirer\, Chicago Tribune\, Associated Press\, Business Week Online\, The Los Angeles Times\, The Washington Post\, CNN Online\, Business Week\, Money and Monster.com\, among others. \nThis program has been aaproved for 1.25 SHRM PDCs.\nPending HRCI Credits

SUMMARY:What to do with the HiPo of the YoPro when you're an OldPro - Examining the Communicative and Assessment Process of Leadership Training
DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Greater Valley Forge Human Resources Association \nThe goal of the session will be to provide insight around assessing leadership potential. Leadership assessment and measurement are a vital tool for strategic team and broader organizational development. The appeal towards individuals with “winning” personalities does not necessarily mean that the skill sets for leadership are present. Are organizations just plugging holes in their talent need by over-estimating the potential of a person? Assessment as an art will be discussed. Contributing factors such as organizational structure\, economics\, generational differences (real or perceived)\, evaluative processes and talent alignment pathing will be discussed. Once it is determined there is high potential in an individual\, how is that assessed? \nSHRM PDCs and HRCI Credits Pending

SUMMARY:Perspectives on the Post-Election Economy - 13th Annual CCEDC Economic Outlook
DESCRIPTION:Join us for CCEDC’s 13th Annual Economic Outlook where proposed economic strategies for the new administration will be discussed; identifying challenges and trends to come in 2017. Dave Hanson and Patti Brennan will offer their perspectives on how policies of the new Administration might impact local\, regional\, national\, and global economies. \nSpeaker Bios: \nDave Hanson\nDave joined Fulton Financial Advisors in 2007. He has over 20 years of experience in investments and trust banking. Dave came to Fulton Financial Advisors following a career with SunTrust where he served in a variety of positions including Closely Held Business Analyst\, Business Development Officer\, Manager of Private Client Services\, and Corporate Strategies/Mergers & Acquisition-related roles. \nHe earned a BS degree in Accounting from Bob Jones University and his MBA degree from Georgia State University. Dave became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Georgia 1987 and Tennessee 1996. He earned series 7\, 63 and 24 securities licenses in 1994\, became a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) in 1997 and received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2000. \n“Dave serves on the Executive Committee of the Trust and Wealth Executive Association of the ABA.   He has been a member of the Advisory Board of the American Bankers Association Wealth Management Conference and co-chaired the Advisory Board of the ABA Private Wealth Management School. Dave is a past Chair of the ABA National Graduate Trust School and served on the faculty of that school for several years. \nPatti Brennan\nA graduate of Georgetown University and a Certified Financial Planner\, Patti Brennan is different. SUMMARY:VUCA Leadership for Organizational and Career Success
DESCRIPTION:1.25 SHRM PDC’s Approved and HRCI Pending \nOur interactive program focuses on understanding VUCA and how best to overcome these aspects for the benefit of your organization and your own career. \nDue to mergers and acquisitions\, a changing government landscape\, regulatory decisions\, and globalization implications (just to name a few factors)\, today’s workplace is Volatile\, Uncertain\, Complex\, and Ambiguous. It will provide language and tools which will allow participants to further develop their skills in critical thinking\, strategic planning\, and leadership development. It will allow participants to engage more impactfully with senior management and enhance their impact on their organization’s vision\, strategic goals\, and bottom line. \nSpeakers: \nHelen T. SUMMARY:Cat's Paws\, Overtime\, and Harassment\, Oh My! Things that Go Bump in the Workplace (Even after Halloween)
DESCRIPTION:Approved for 1.25 SHRM PDC’s and HRCI credits  \nBreakfast and Registration Begins at 7:30 AM\, Program Begins at 8:00 AM \nThis presentation will provide a brief explanation of workplace harassment\, how to recognize it\, and both the responsibilities of an employee who has witnessed or been subjected to workplace harassment and the agency that has been put on notice of allegations of workplace harassment. The presentation will also address Conducting workplace investigations which is one of the most challenging duties that HR professionals must take on. Workforce demographics are shifting. New laws are constantly popping up. Managers make mistakes because they aren’t properly trained or they’re under pressure to resolve complaints quickly. Employees are more aware of their rights. This presentation will answer the riddle What does employment discrimination law have to do with the paws of a cat. The Court in Staub\, applying what has come to be known as the “cat’s paw” theory of employer liability\, held that an employer may be strictly liable for intentional discrimination under USERRA (and other similar statutes\, like Title VII) when a lower-level supervisor intentionally discriminates against an employee and then causes a higher level decision-maker\, who has no discriminatory motive or “animus\,” to terminate or take some other adverse action against the employee \nSPEAKER: \nJason Resiman \, Esq \, Partner at Blank Rome. \nJason has extensive experience in equal employment opportunity matters before state and federal agencies\, federal employment discrimination litigation\, wage and hour (including overtime) litigation\, collective bargaining\, and representation case and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. He also has comprehensive knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act and Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 (WARN Act)

However\, a “Control Freak” corporate culture is one of the most dangerous and damaging to any organization.  Leaders who don’t effectively delegate certainly bring about stress\, burnout\, turnover\, and rising health care costs–not to mention taking time and attention away from the most important projects and responsibilities.  However\, even deeper\, a lack of leadership through empowering squelches employee development\, negatively impacts succession planning\, and even causes a direct “negative ROI” impact to each organization through an ineffective use of human resources.  Enjoy this powerful keynote or half-day program which illustrates what organizations should do to develop & empower millennials and all future leaders–and how to avoid the damaging impacts of organizations which don’t. \nRegistration:\nCCHRA Member & Hire One Champion       $110\nNon-Member                                                     $125\nStudent/In-Transition                                       $50 \nFor more information and to register for this event\, click here. \n
